Story by Kadin Rogers

The United Red Storm baseball team has gotten off to a hot start to their 2024 spring campaign. Ten days ago, United officially started their season off with a 9-7 win over the Orion Chargers. That win kicked off a 4 game stretch of victories including big offensive performances in a 21-0 win over South Fulton and a 12-2 win over West Prairie. Despite the Red Storm being handed their first loss of the season last night against Farmington, United is still heading to the end of March strong with a 4-1 overall record. Coming up in the last week of the month, however, will be a very challenging stretch of games for United. During next week the Red Storm will take on both Peoria Christian and Camp Point Central, before heading into a weekend series on March 30 against a pair of quality baseball squads. First up, United will match up with defending 3A state champion and undefeated Nazareth Academy, then take on a Holy Trinity team that made a deep run in last year’s 2A playoffs.

Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show on Friday, head coach Ryan Molek says this upcoming stretch of tough games will be a good test for his ballclub.

United’s home contest vs Peoria Christian on Tuesday will begin with the first pitch at 4:30.
