While the 2023-2024 IHSA girls basketball season did not end the way the West Central Lady Heat would have wanted, the program is still currently reflecting on what was a very successful season for West Central. Overall, the Heat finished with a 20-8 record, with an undefeated 11-0 mark in the Lincoln Trail Conference. That undefeated conference record is an especially impressive feat in a very loaded Lincoln Trail conference that saw the Lady Heat have to battle with the likes of state ranked Annawan, 26-5 Wethersfield, as well as 26-8 Abingdon-Avon who made a sectional championship run this season.

With this winter basketball season officially over, the focus for the Lady Heat program now turns to preparing for the 2024-2025 season next school year, a season that West Central will have to compete in without all-state senior guard Shelby Bowman. Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show this morning, 3rd year Head Coach Tyler Klossing discussed what the plan is for summer preparation in the offseason, as West Central looks to draw up an offensive attack without Bowman, who accounted for over 2,000 points in her high school career.

Other seniors that the Lady Heat will be without next year include Brooklyn Miller and Sam Meyer. For the full interview with West Central girls basketball coach Tyler Klossing, visit the Sports Podcast section.
