The line of books kept moving in Galesburg yesterday. About 500 kids from Lombard Middle School helped move the library’s books two blocks to their new home. The kids lined the streets, and handed the books to each other, one at a time. Library Director Noelle Thompson says movers will handle about half of the library’s 140 thousand items, and the kids and volunteers will handle the rest. Galesburg’s library relied on student-power when it first opened in 1902, though the number of books that had to be moved was much smaller back then.
