Services for Macomb native and witness to the attack on Pearl Harbor — Sterling Cale — are scheduled for this Thursday in Hawaii.  Cale passed away January 20th at the age of 102.  He was the last survivor of the attack still living in Hawaii.  He served for 57 years in military and government service.  He was born in Macomb and joined the Navy while still a teen.  Cale was working in the U.S. Naval Hospital when the attack began.  He and others raced to the USS Oklahoma when it was hit by Japanese fighter planes.  He dove into the water to rescue as many men as he could and wound up pulling out 46 men.  All totaled, 429 were killed aboard the Oklahoma.
