Monmouth College Graduate Named Student Teacher of the Year

Monmouth College alum Kaitlyn McCullough was honored in January as the Student Teacher of the Year by the Illinois Music Education Association, shares Professor of Music and Director of Choral and Vocal Activities Tim Pahel:

“She graduated last May with a certification in music education and had done her student teaching at Monmouth-Roseville, working with Junior High and High School. It was really good for her to be able to work in that program, they do really good music and had good groups that she worked with. The Choir Director there, Kevin Ferry, is very supportive of student teacher experiences and really wants to give them a lot of responsibility, so he just turned a choir over to her from the beginning and then later she was the main one working with all of the choirs and was sort of musical directing the musical they were doing, so she had a lot of hands on experience.”

McCullough currently teaches vocal music in the Orion School District.
