Pedestrian Struck by Train

On March 21, 2024 at approximately 9:56 PM, Deputies from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Officers from the Galesburg Police Department responded to a call of a pedestrian that was struck by a moving train in the Galesburg area near the city limits.

The pedestrian was located by responding agencies and was immediately evaluated. Lifesaving measures were attempted by G.H.A.S and Galesburg Fire.

G.H.A.S transported the pedestrian to St. Mary’s Hospital Emergency Room where they were later pronounced deceased.

Currently the identification of the victim is not being released.
