Story by Kadin Rogers

After a long wait for the United Red Storm softball team, they are officially less than a week away from taking the diamond to kick off the 2024 spring sports schedule for the softball program. Untied will have two contests over this upcoming weekend, with the Red Storm hosting North Fulton on Friday, then turning around on Saturday and taking on Macomb in a weekend matchup. Looking back on last year, the United softball team did not have the season that many around the program hoped for, as the Red Storm finished with a 1-20-1 record over their 22 contests. Speaking on the WRAM Morning Show for the first time this season, United softball head coach Mark McMahon says that despite the tough season in 2023, United will return a good stable of pitchers, while also working to improve their hitting from last year.

United’s home varsity tilt with North Fulton will begin with the first pitch on Friday at 4:30. For the full interview with head softball coach Mark McMahon, visit the Sports Podcast section.
