Annual Halfway to Freezing for Food Brings Local Community Together in the Fight Against Food Insecurity

Share

More than 2,000 individuals in the local community are acquiring their food from the food pantry at Jamieson Community Center and the Recharge Teen Center. With the annual Halfway to Freezing for Food event right around the corner, Executive Director Nancy Mowen shares staple items needed to help stock the shelves:

“I want people to think about things that they eat in their homes on a regular basis; canned vegetables, tomato paste, tomato sauce, whole grained pasta, rice, peanut butter, tuna, canned chicken is very welcomed, cereal, and fruit, which is something that is harder for us to get through River Bend. Those are some of the stock items that we always try to have on hand.”

The annual WMOI/WRAM Halfway to Freezing for Food will take place 10 am to 2 pm Tuesday June 4th, Wednesday June 5th, and Thursday June 6th at Save A Lot Food Store in Monmouth.
