Illinois Reminds Private Well Owners to Test for Potential Contaminants

The Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Water Survey are reminding private well-owners in the state to properly maintain their wells and test them for potential contaminants.  Contamination is caused by improper construction, poor maintenance, or releases of contaminants into the well’s aquifer.  Officials say testing for contaminants is a simple and effective way to ensure that private wells are safe and don’t pose a health risk.

Fatal Accident in Knox County

A single vehicle crash west of Victoria Sunday evening resulted in a fatality. According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred at 5:12pm on Illinois Route 167 and
