Micheline K. “Mikey” Smock, 78, of Galesburg, died at 5:54 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Seminary Manor.
She was born February 15, 1946, in Galesburg, the daughter of Kenneth S. and Margaret L. (Chester) Sargeant. She was married to Ted Godsil. Later, she married James L. “Jim” Smock on February 28, 1969, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2013, after 44 years of marriage.
She is survived by her children, Kenny (the late Lavina) Smock, Jean (Jim) Smith, Becky (the late Howard) Ellison, Julie (Roger) Lundeen, all of Galesburg and Greg (Danie) Smock of Savoy. There are 10 grandchildren, James, Angela, Jayson, Bob, Chrissy, Jeremy, Josh, Matt, Hannah, and Jacob; 14 great grandchildren; and a sister, Bonnie (John) Hook of Gainesville, Texas. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, David Sargeant; and a great-granddaughter, Scarlet.
Mikey worked at Maytag for 30 years before retiring September 1, 1996. She was of the Christian faith. Mikey most enjoyed visiting and spending time with her family and friends. She loved her dogs.
Cremation will be accorded. Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024, in East Linwood Cemetery. Pastor Jordan Knight will officiate. There will be no visitation.
