School is out and the weather is warmer. Summer driving season is here. Monmouth Police Chief Joe Switzer reminds motorists to slow down and watch for people out and about on the roadways:
“Pay attention when you are driving down the street. Look for the kids on the bikes. Look for them walking and running across the street. There is going to be a lot more people out too. The weather is obviously nice. The water in on at the Pattee Park on 11th and Broadway, so there will be a lot of traffic in and out of there. We all know there is a lot of construction going on, various roads are getting done. The big project with the square is going to be starting up here soon. North 6th Street is still getting repaired. Just plan your trips accordingly. Some of these roads are going to be blocked off at various different times and you will not be able to drive thru them, so you will just have to go around.”
Chief Switzer also reminds City of Monmouth residents that registration stickers for golf carts and non-highway vehicles are available at the Monmouth Police Department.
