Student-Athletes Honored at Fighting Scot Awards

The Monmouth College athletic department came together on Wednesday night in Dahl Chapel for the Ninth Annual Fighting Scot Awards. Student-athletes from every program were honored for their successes over the last year, both on and off the field. In addition to handing out academic awards and honoring team academic success, those who achieved All-Conference, All-Region and All-American status were also recognized. 

Awards were handed out for specific categories, as nominated by the head coaches:

  • Male Newcomer of the Year – Tyrek Tripp (Clearwater, Florida) – Football OL
  • Female Newcomer of the Year – Danielle Beach (Geneseo, Illinois) – Basketball & Soccer
  • Comeback Athlete of the Year – Kynlee Stearns (Gilson, Illinois) – Women’s Basketball
  • Individual Performance of the Year – Raul Guillermo (Miami, Florida) – Baseball (3 HR game)
  • Championship Performance – Cally Tate (Monmouth, Illinois) – Women’s Swimming (3 school records, 2 2nd places)
  • Moment of the Year – Turner Plumer (Canton, Illinois) – Men’s Basketball (Buzzer-beater at Knox)
  • Kim Mead Award (Senior Female) – Lillian Hucke (Aledo, Illinois) – Softball
  • Leadership Award – Savannah Robinson (Delavan, Illinois) – Volleyball

In addition to the above, Olivia Postin was honored as the Monmouth College Student Employee of the Year as she represented the Sports Information Department at last month’s Highlander Awards. Athletic Trainer Bob Foster was given the Faculty/Staff Recognition Award, as nominated by Cally Tate and M Club Hall of Famer Dan Schisler was the Alumni Recognition Award recipient.
