Carl Sandburg College Empowers Future Mechanics Through Tools of the Trade Grant

The Carl Sandburg College Foundation and the Edward Arthur Mellinger Educational Foundation have teamed up to offer a Tools of the Trade grant opportunity for students enrolled in the automotive technology program at Carl Sandburg, explains Chief Advancement Officer Eric Johnson:

“We offer success grants in a variety of forms at the college and this Tools of the Trade grant really gives an opportunity to provide the supplies, the equipment to students who are enrolled part-time, full-time in our auto technology program. Really, this gets them the required tools that they need, but hopefully saves them and lowers the barrier of the cost because tools are not cheap. Sometimes the tools that you need to successfully complete the program, there are some expenses in there and so we are awarding this on a first-come, first-served basis.”

Once a student completes the automotive technology program at Carl Sandburg College, the equipment they received through the Tools of the Trade grant becomes that student’s personal property.
