Construction Beginning on Carl Sandburg Drive

Gunther Construction is beginning work this week on W. Carl Sandburg Drive from N. Henderson Street to just west of Broad Street. The improvements include storm sewer work, sidewalk replacement, ADA ramp upgrades, curb repairs, and milling and asphalt resurfacing. It is anticipated that the project will take approximately eight weeks to complete.

While the work is being completed, two-way traffic will be maintained at all times; however, there will be lane reductions on W. Carl Sandburg Drive to complete the storm sewer and resurfacing work. Access to sideroads and businesses within the work zone will be maintained throughout construction.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area.  Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, and be on alert for workers and equipment.
