Dean Edward Whiteman, known affectionately as Dino, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 in Dayton, Nevada at the age of 77.
Dean was born on November 21 1946 in Monmouth, IL the son of Harold and Lillian (Potter) Whiteman. He was raised and educated in Warren County, graduating from Warren High School with the class of 1964.
Following his graduation from High School, Dean enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Cryptographic Accountant. After his military service he earned his Bachelors of Science degree at Western Illinois University in 1972.
Dean resided in Peoria, Illinois and served as a policeman in the City of Peoria for 13 years. In 1985 Dean moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. While in Las Vegas he was a court bailiff for 3 years, security for Las Vegas schools for 3 and a deputy sheriff for 12 years. His law enforcement career was marked by his dedication, compassion and empathy for others.
In 2013, Dean married his beloved wife, Patricia Boss and they resided in Dayton, Nevada.
Dean was a proud father, and grandfather and cherished the time he spent with his family. Dean’s hobbies were practicing his marksman skills at the gun range and riding his beloved motorcycle.
His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family: his wife Patricia Whiteman; his daughter, Jennie (Stefan) Nowacki; his three grandchildren, Ryan, Allison and Madeline; his brother David (Maryanne) Whiteman; and his nephews Kirk Whiteman and Toby Whiteman of Illinois.
Dean was predeceased by his parents.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be 1:00 Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 11:00-12:30 pm at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials may be given to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund or A Plus Hospice Care, Reno, NV and sent to the funeral home.
