Person Identified in Fatal Motorcycle Accident

Police have released the identity of the motorcycle driver fatally injured in the accident as Nathanial S. Hawk, 31 years old, of Monmouth, IL. 

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 7:19 p.m., the Galesburg Police Department responded to the intersection of Cherry Street and Simmons Street in response to a motorcycle accident. Upon arrival, the rider of a motorcycle, Nathaniel S. Hawk, 31 of Monmouth, was located on the pavement in the intersection. Medical personnel responded to the scene to provide aid to Hawk. He was transported to the OSF St. Mary Medical Center Emergency Room in Galesburg by ambulance, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Initial investigation indicated that Hawk was riding southbound on Cherry Street along with another motorcycle. The two motorcycles became tangled up in the intersection causing the Hawk to lose control and fall off the motorcycle. Investigators and crash reconstruction officers were called to the scene to process the scene. This matter is still under investigation.
