Deere workers in East Moline, Illinois, received a letter about a mandatory meeting regarding adjustments to production, sparking concerns about potential layoffs. The company previously announced plans to reduce staff due to declining demand for farm equipment. The Harvester Works plant, which makes Deere’s combines and employs about 2,300 people, is a significant employer in the area. Workers fear that more layoffs may arise as the company addresses production changes.

John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline is making cuts. Our Quad Cities reports that 279 employees at the plant will get layoff notices today. The employees were told their last day is August 30th. Hundreds of John Deere workers have received layoff notices in recent months, including in Waterloo and Ankeny.
