With the anticipation of the Downtown Streetscape Beautification beginning in the City of Monmouth, Council has entered a Professional Services Agreement with Hutchinson Engineering for them to apply for an additional grant for the 200 block of South Main Street. City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher explains:

“Under the Rebuild Downtown and Main Street Grant program, this is the same program we got the $3 million to do the Public Square. We have tasked Hutchinson Engineering to apply for a $2 million grant so that we can continue the streetscape beautification efforts down the 200 block of South Main Street. We feel that is an important addition in what we are doing with the Public Square and hopefully we will be successful with that.”

The grant application is due in the early fall.
