The Western Illinois Museum Welcomes Blues Musician Jeff Swan

The Western Illinois Museum is pleased to welcome the blues singer and slide guitarist Jeff Swan on Thursday, June 27th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm to Our Front Porch. The doors and bar open at 6:00 pm with two sets of music starting at 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm. There is a suggested $5 donation at the door.

Blues guitarist extraordinaire Jeff Swan has been playing the blues for fifty years and recorded with such legends as Hubert Sumlin, Sunnly and Slim, and Cary Bell. He currently leads the Colorado band The Slyders and was voted “Best Slide Guitar Player” in the Denver area.  He has performed at the Chicago Blues Fest, The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, The St. Paul/Minneapolis Island Festival, The Minneapolis Downtown Music Festival, and many other festivals throughout the Midwest. At this performance, he will be joined by local musicians including saxophonist and keyboardist Pete Hannon, bassist and singer David Denisar, and Morton drummer and WIU graduate Michael Coers. The group has been performing together for over 40 years.

This program is funded in part by grants from the Illinois Arts Council and the Illinois Humanities Council.

The Western Illinois Museum is a non-profit organization celebrating and nurturing the history, culture, and traditions of McDonough County. As a vibrant community hub, the Museum offers exhibits, an open collection area, lectures, music, and other programs in a historic building located at 201 S. Lafayette Street, one block south of Macomb’s Courthouse Square.
