2024 Henderson County Fair Goat Show Summary and Results

Wednesday at the Henderson County Fair kicked off with the goat and sheep show.  Reid Suddeth, judge of the shows at the Henderson County Fair says that while the goad show may have been on the smaller side, there was a lot of quality from top to bottom.

“Definitely a very competitive show here in the goats, there’s a few does that rose to the top. I think very, very competitive, one a little had a little red and white paint to it. That ended up winning the doe show, one that I like quite a bit, really neat, looking good in terms of her feet and legs and still having a lot of muscle,” says Suddeth. “And then my champion weather, one that could withstand a lot of competition, and I think to go on down the road, a very hard, shapely backed one with a lot of muscle, but still has the extras in terms of look, foot size, and bone work, and has the leg hair to balance up everything on the top side of his skeleton.”

Grand Champion Wether of the goat show belonged to Ruby Gittings.

“From the very beginning, I took my goals through breaking them, working them out, feeding them hard, giving them all my attention.”

Gittings will represent Henderson County at the Throwdown show in Knoxville this August.

“I will just keep up with their routine making sure that they look their best all the time, making sure that they stay healthy and ready for that big show.”
