While it is still summertime, Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau President Jake Armstrong says now is the time to market those bushels with the current prices because come fall, they could take a turn:
“This is a textbook year to spray fungicide because we have had the cooler weather, we have had the wetter conditions. I think this is going to be the year you are really going to see across the scale who did and who didn’t spray fungicide. I think we have a good crop out there. We really dodged a bullet with the derecho. Definitely be working ahead and marketing those bushels as you can, as effectively as you can with the prices we are at because I think come fall it is going to be a train wreck of basis and larger crop plus larger carryover, elevators having to do different logistics to accommodate things, I think it is going to be a more challenging fall. I would be booking bushels and making sure that there is guaranteed space at places and just working with your merchandiser on the best things to do.”
Additionally, the deadline to order peaches with the Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau is this Friday, August 2nd. Delivery date is Tuesday, August 13th.
