Mrs. Geneva L. “Jean” Geffers, 93, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 3:37 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at home with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. 

She was born May 29, 1931, in Neelyville, Missouri to Oscar Lee and Dora Ellen (Spitzig) West.  She married Richard L. Geffers on July 1, 1978, in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on March 29, 2022.

Surviving is her daughter, Sheila (and Mike) Wheeler of Galesburg, six brothers, Oscar Ray (and Pat) West of Knoxville, Jim (and Virginia) West of Cameron, Illinois, Glen (and Bessie) West of Cameron, Gary (and Martha) West of Cameron, Lonnie West of Abingdon, Illinois, and Donnie (and Mary Gardner) West of Cameron, a sister, Shirley (and Jerry) Sullivan of Pocahontas, Arkansas, a sister-in-law, Cora West of Kirkwood, Illinois, a grandson, Brad (and Michelle) Wheeler of Knoxville and two great grandchildren, Madilyn and Brynlee Wheeler.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Clifford West, and a sister and brother-in-law Mary and Bud Hill.

Geneva was born in Missouri and later moved with her family to Arkansas.  She then moved to Galesburg and raised her daughter on her own until she married Dick Geffers.  She then became a homemaker for her husband and family.  She enjoyed reading, cross stitching, and spending time in her garden. 

Cremation will be accorded.  No services are planned.  Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
