Indoor Bat Sighting Steps to Protect Against Rabies

Share

While waking up to or locating a bat in your home is disturbing, Jenna Link, Warren County Health Department Administrator, informs they should be caught and tested for rabies:

“If by chance you wake up to a bat in your bedroom, the recommendation is that the bat be submitted for testing because you may not feel a bite and you can’t really see the bite because their teeth are just some fine that you don’t really notice. So, if you wake up to a bat in your bedroom, that really should be tested for rabies.”

Link reports that there are certain species of bats on the endangered species list.
