The North 6th Street road reconstruction in the City of Monmouth is now complete and Mayor Rod Davies reports the new asphalt is laying over the brick paved road:

“We had to get the utilities underground first and then we have been back and forth a number of times about whether we needed to remove all bricks from the old brick road that were there. This last go around, they came up with an idea and a new binder to help the asphalt stick to those bricks that we were allowed to leave them in place, remove some of the soft spots and fill in with concrete. It certainly took about $1 million off the price tag for the project, so that helped move this project forward as well.”

Additionally, in the City of Monmouth $813,000 has been spent to date on residential improvements and $1.8 million on business construction totals.
