The City of Galesburg will host a public input meeting on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at Learning Connections of Galesburg, 849 S. Henderson St., for citizens to provide input on the proposed improvements for the Cooke Property Park Development project. The proposed park is being developed on an open lot located at 652 W. 2nd St. in Galesburg.

The City of Galesburg was awarded an Open Space and Land Acquisition Development (OSLAD) grant in 2024 to develop a park on the property. Proposed improvements include a playground, picnic shelter, restrooms, walking path, parking lot, and trailhead. Through the OSLAD grant award, $500,000 of this project will be paid for by OSLAD grant funds, with the remaining $500,000 paid for by the City of Galesburg.

At the public input meeting, Farnsworth Group will present examples of imagery of potential facilities and amenities for feedback from attendees. The Director of Parks and Recreation and City Engineer will also be present to answer questions and provide information. All citizens are welcome and encouraged to join the meeting to plan for the future of the park. For more information, please contact Don Miles, Director of Parks and Recreation, at 309-344-3140.
