Familiar Faces Will Begin New School Year in Administrative Roles at Monmouth-Roseville High School

As we flip the calendar to August, a new school year is right around the corner and the Monmouth-Roseville High School will have some new, but familiar faces in the building. Eric Matthews is the new Principal and joined the district from Galesburg:

“I actually started my career back in Monmouth in 2001 when it was the Zippers. We were here for five years, my family and I, went through the first year of the consolidation, and then had the opportunity in 2006 to go over to Farmington. We were there for twelve years. Spent the last six years at Galesburg. I have been an athletic director my whole life, 23 years, but it was time for a change and this opportunity opened up, I threw my name in the hat and here I am, the new Principal at Monmouth-Roseville High School, so I am excited.”

Monmouth native Nate Johnson is joining the Monmouth-Roseville district as the new Assistant Principal at the High School:

“I was born and raised in Monmouth, Illinois. I have taught for 25 years, I believe, in this district and then as Mr. Stromquist moved on to Sherrard, it was time for me to try and get in and change and try something new and go up in the ladder. I think as being a part of that teaching crew for 25 years, I bring quite a perspective to the school and knowing the students. I also have two students in the High School as well.”

Monmouth-Roseville students will kick off a new school year with backpack night on Tuesday, August 20th.
