Illinois Dominates on Way to 2nd Consecutive Little League Senior Softball World Series Championship

The Illinois team based out of Beardstown won their second straight Little League Senior Softball World Series championship this weekend in Roxana, Delaware. Illinois defeated a team representing the Southeast from South Carolina 11-0 on Sunday night to end the tournament undefeated at (7-0). Illinois outscored their opponents 65-5 in their seven world series games. For the entire postseason, Illinois was (11-0), with a scoring differential of an amazing 114-10.

Local high school seniors-to-be Addie Seitz from West Central and Kylie Robinson from Macomb were a large part of the team’s success the last two weeks. In Sunday night’s championship game, Robinson blasted a 2-run homer and Seitz went 2-2 with a triple. For the tournament, Seitz led Illinois in batting average at .538 and also pitched a 7-inning, 3-hitter for one of the seven Illinois wins in the World Series. Robinson batted in the lead-off spot throughout the postseason and tied for the team lead in runs scored with 11 in the series.

Ava Rodriguez-Mansholt had an outstanding World Series, batting .500 with three home runs and 14 rbis. She will be entering her junior year at Pawnee High School, located just south of Springfield. Audrey Gilman from Calhoun High School, struck out 37 batters in just 17 innings in the pitching circle.
