The Knox County Board, at their regularly scheduled August meeting, approved the appointment of Sherry Lawson-Weaver to the office of Knox County States Attorney. This appointment comes as a result of current Knox County States Attorney Jeremy Karlin’s resignation of the office effective September 5th. Knox County Board Chairman Jared Hawkinson stated at the meeting that he has “been in contact with
Sherry and had discussions about the office with her. Sherry will be serving in this position until the new Knox County State’s Attorney is sworn in after the November 2024 Election.”
Chairman Hawkinson further states “Sherry has a long history of service in the Knox County area serving both in public and private practice. Sherry’s service in the Public Defender’s Office for Knox, Warren and Henderson Counties as well as an Assistant States Attorney in Warren County and her current role as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Knox County has provided her the knowledge and skillset needed for the role.”
“With Sherry’s presence in the States Attorney’s Office currently, we look forward to a smooth transition for the office and would also like to thank Jeremy Karlin for his service to Knox County”, said Hawkinson.
There will be a swearing in ceremony next week for Sherry Lawson-Weaver.
