To provide extended opportunities for training, the Monmouth Fire Department will be constructing a training site with shipping containers, explains Fire Chief Casey Rexroat:

“Everybody got their heads together and come up with an idea of using shipping containers to build the training prop with. This is a pretty common practice with fire departments to use these and there are actually companies that will build these big training props out of these shipping containers. They are 40 foot long, about 8 foot wide, and 9 foot tall. You can stack them and configure them how it works best for you and make multiple floors like you would an actual structure, put windows and doors in it, and everything else. We will be able to use this for advancing hose lines, search and rescue, rope rescue, and things like that.”

The Monmouth Fire Department received funding through local foundations for the training site project, which will be located at the City Garage Site on South 3rd Street.
