New COVID Variant Doubles in United States

The CDC is warning about a new COVID-19 variant that’s doubled in the U.S. in just two weeks.  It’s called KP-Three-Point-One-Point-One and now accounts for one in four COVID cases. Public health experts say it’s much more infectious than previous variants and may be better at evading our immunity built up by existing COVID vaccines.  The warning following the detection of high levels of COVID-19 in wastewater in 20 states.  Those most at risk from COVID include seniors 65 and up, those who are immunocompromised and people with diabetes or lung or heart conditions.
