The field is set for the 2024 American Legion Baseball regionals. Sixty-four teams will compete at eight regional sites, Aug. 7-11, to set the field for the 97th American Legion World Series.
The regional field consists of state champions, regional hosts and runners-up from states with the most senior Legion Baseball teams. They will compete in a double-elimination format for the right to advance to the ALWS in Shelby, N.C., Aug. 15-20.
Four of last year’s ALWS participants are back in the regional field this year, led by League City (Tex.) Post 554, who won the state’s first ALWS championship in 2023. Other returning teams from the 2023 ALWS field include Troy (Ala.) Post 70, which won the 2022 ALWS; Brooklawn (N.J.) Post 72, seeking to extend the program’s record of 17 ALWS appearances; and Cheyenne (Wyo.) Post 6, which became the first program from Wyoming to reach the ALWS with last year’s appearance.
