Reimolds Wins Third Career Monmouth All-City Men’s Golf Title; Briggs Wins Third Straight Women’s Championship

Tristan Reimolds wrapped up his 3rd career Monmouth All-City Golf Tournament championship on Sunday at Gibson Woods with a blistering 6-under par 65. That score, combined with a 2-under score of 68 on Saturday at the Monmouth Country Club, gave him a total score of 133 and an amazing nine-stroke advantage over runnerup Jake Sottos. Lauren Briggs won her 3rd straight women’s all-city championship, shooting a 2-day total of 151.

Reimolds’ total ties him with Todd Hamilton (1984), Adam Goldie (1998), Ryan McClintock (2002) and Joe Hoskins (2011) for the 2-day tournament record. Reimolds also joins Mike Briggs Jr. (1987-1989), Rich Thomas (2003-2006), Scott McClintock (2010, 2014, 2016) and Scott Weber (2008, 2017, 2022-2023) as golfers with at least three career All-City titles. Thomas and Weber hold the men’s record for total titles with 4 each.

All but one of the top-6 finishers in this year’s championship flight were former champions. 2015 and 2020 champ Sottos was 2nd with a 142, followed by Weber in 3rd with a 145. 2021 champ Matt Briggs placed 4th with a 147. Scott McClintock and Craig Anderson tied for 5th with matching 148’s. Anderson, who came into Sunday’s final round one shot behind Reimolds, has gotten close several times but has yet to raise the trophy. After shooting an opening round 68 at the Monmouth Country Club, Reimolds led by one shot over Anderson and three more quality golfers were two shots back. Reimolds, who won back-to-back championships in 2018 and 2019, said after the tournament he knew he had his work cut out for him on Sunday at Gibson Woods if he wanted to hold onto the lead and bring that elusive 3rd career title home with him.
