Rodney Lee McIntyre, age 65, of Stronghurst, Illinois, passed away at 7:49 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington. He was born February 26, 1959 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Donald and Rena Walton McIntyre. In 1980, he married Tammy Good. They later divorced. On November 19, 1994, he married Amie Ballenger in Burlington.
Rod was a machinist for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 18 ½ years until failing health forced his early retirement. He enjoyed race cars and car shows. He was an avid fan of professional wrestling, and loved watching it daily.
Survivors include his wife, Amie, two daughters: Dena McIntyre of Stronghurst, IL and Tiffany Davis of Burlington, IA, three sons: David McIntyre of Lomax, IL, Brett McIntyre and Blake McIntyre, both of Stronghurst, three grandchildren: Kyla, Alexis, and Nova McIntyre, two sisters: Jean (Blaine) Faudree of Media, IL, Debra (Jerry) Spiker of Stronghurst, and two brothers: Robert (Barbara) McIntyre of Stronghurst, and Mark (Joelle) McIntyre of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson: Ryan Davis, a brother: Donald McIntyre, and a brother infancy.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at the First Christian Church, 1221 Park Ave., Burlington, Iowa, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Rev. David Yonker will be the Officiant. Burial will be in the Olena Cemetery, near Stronghurst. A memorial fund has been established for his family.
