Structure Fire Leads to Arrest in Galesburg

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, at approximately 7:39 AM, the Galesburg Police Department and the Galesburg Fire Department responded to 243 Highland Ave, Galesburg, IL in reference to a structure fire. A juvenile was located in the residence and initially transported to OSF St. Mary Medical Center. The juvenile was subsequently transported to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL, and is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The fire, inside the residence, was extinguished by the Galesburg Fire Department

As a result of the investigation, Jason D. Fielder, 46 years old, was located at 672 Home Blvd Apt #202, Galesburg, IL. Fielder was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Arson, and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault. Additional charges may be forthcoming. Fielder remains in custody at the Knox County Jail awaiting his first court appearance.

The Galesburg Police Department and the Galesburg Fire Department were assisted by the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit, State of Illinois Fire Marshalls Office and the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.
