Not only are pre-k through 12th graders heading back to the classroom for another school year, so are the adults with the Regional Office of Education #33, reports Director of ROE Services Kathryn Jennings:

“We welcomed 72 adults seeking their high school equivalency, as well as 167 English as a second language learners to enroll in some of our programs and we are able to offer several different what are called ICAPS programs, those are Integrated Career and Academic Preparation Systems. So, essentially what happens is while the student is getting their high school equivalency, they are able to enroll through ICAPS. It is a certification program. We offer that in several different areas in conjunction with Carl Sandburg College. The offered areas are CNA’s, phlebotomy, Computer Numeric Controls, paraprofessional programs and computer support, as well as an automotive tech program.”

Additionally, through the Regional Alternative Services offered with the ROE, Jennings shares 36 high school students, 10 junior high students, and 11 students seeking their Illinois High School Diploma, with more expected to join.
