Tax Exemptions Available for Warren County Senior Citizens

Share

On the Warren County Real Estate Tax Bills, there is a list of possible exemptions to reduce the taxable value, with two exclusive exemptions available for seniors, reminds Supervisory of Assessments Mike McVey:

“If you are a senior citizen and are turning age 65 in that tax year, you are automatically eligible for a $5,000 reduction of your assessed value. The second senior exemption is known as the senior freeze. The freeze is income based, for seniors who have a household income of $65,000 or less. If you look at your tax bill and notice in the right hand column that there is a zero next to either one of those and you believe you qualify, you should call us. It is not too late to get those added. We will still add them for you and print out a new bill with your exemption in place.”

McVey also pointed out that if you live and occupy your primary residence, you can get an owner occupied exemption, reducing your assessed value by $6,000.
