The United Red Storm and Monmouth-Roseville Titan boys golf teams met at Gibson Woods Golf Course on Monday for the 4th edition of the Maple City Cup. It’s a bragging rights meet between the two Monmouth-area schools separated by merely three miles. The Titans had won all three previous cups but it was United’s turn to hold up the trophy this season. The Red Storm defeat the Titans 180-206. United’s Aiden Martin claimed meet medalist honors with a 43. He was followed by Ian Leffler’s 45 and Lucas Horner and Wyatt Stockdale’s 46’s to round out the scoring for United. Monmouth-Roseville, who has only four golfers on its 2024 roster, were led by Noah Eiler’s 45, Maddox Clark’s 46, Payton Haines 51 and Kaleb Kirkpatrick’s 64.

United golf coach Jeff Neal said following the meet that he didn’t think his squad played up to their potential but he was happy to hold the trophy for the first time.
