Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies Respond to Report of Armed Suicidal Person

At approximately 6:30 AM (8/26/2024) the Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home in Alexis, for a report of an armed suicidal person. Deputies made contact with the person inside the home, and after a period of negotiation the person surrendered the firearm and was taken to OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg for evaluation. No one was injured during the incident.  The name of the person involved will be withheld in consideration of this as a medical matter. As a precaution, United North Elementary was locked down. 

Agencies assisting the Sheriff’s Office was the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police, and Alexis Ambulance.
