Mrs. Barbara A. Brown, 89, of Alexis, Illinois died at 9:41 a.m. Sunday, September 15, 2024, at her home. 

She was born August 11, 1935, in Galesburg, Illinois to Aaron J. and Leah (Pettit) Brown.  She married Robert R. Brown on November 6, 1954, in Oneida, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on November 19, 2005.

Surviving is her daughter, Debbie (and Garry) Wayland of Galesburg, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews whom she dearly adored.  She was preceded in death by her husband after 51 years of marriage, her parents, two sons, Ronald R. Brown in 1979 and Robert D. Brown in 1957, two brothers, Marvin Brown and David Brown, a sister, Shirley Daniels, and a grandson, Caper Brown. 

Barbara attended Galesburg schools and graduated from ROVA High School in 1954.  She was an assembler and an inspector for Maytag Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for 30 years and retired in 1994.  She was a member of the North Henderson United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was active in numerous church activities.  She was a member of the Lyons Club, Floral Club, and the Ever Busy Club all in North Henderson.  She was also a member of the Warren County Home Extension, Scarlett O’Hatters in Galesburg and the Ladybug Red Hats in Alexis. 

Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2024, at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg.  Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
