Hospice care is a vital role in providing individuals and their families support in offering guidance, counseling, and treatments during the final stages of a person’s life. Although, seeking hospice services does not have to wait until there is a concern, shares Beacon of Hope Hospice Care Consultant Ashley Sanchez:

“If the doctor says they are not quite ready for hospice, that is okay. We actually have a Be Connected program as well that a patient can still get acquainted with some of our team members and they can build a connection so that they just feel comfortable with who is coming around them. They need that connection sometimes too. The Be Connected program is where a nurse will just call them and this is completely for free to patients. So, if patients still want to do chemo, go to the doctor, or even have a surgery, with the Be Connected program a nurse will just call and check up on them. Then we have our volunteers, social workers, and chaplain that can always come and visit them.”

Volunteers are a major part in providing support to patients and their families. No experience is necessary to become a Beacon of Hope Hospice volunteer. For more information, reach out to Larry at 309-760-0466.
