Delene M. Wilson, age 74, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 11:09 AM on Monday, September 2, 2024 at her residence. She was born September 28, 1949 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Delbert and Olive (Loeffers) Loper. Delene was raised by her mother Olive and her step-father, Elmer Hand. She attended school in the area and was a graduate of Burlington High School. 

Delene served the people of Henderson County and surrounding areas as an Emergency Medical Technician for over twenty years. She also served as a Dispatcher for the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office for several years. Delene was the owner of Cupps Cakes Bakery & Cafe in Oquawka. She loved baking and sharing her baked goods with the community. She enjoyed playing cards and always looked forward to her weekly card game with family.

Delene is survived by two daughters, Olive (Steve) Murphy of Oquawka, IL and Millie (Kevin) Bundy of Oquawka, IL, two sons, Tom (Terry) Cupps of Oquawka, IL and Tony (Amy) Von Alexander of Toddville, IA, her grandchildren, Austin Sharp, Taylor Riley, Jessica Cupps, Tommy Murphy, DJ Murphy, Amelia Von Alexander, Abigail Von Alexander, Jamie Bundy, and Korey Bundy, and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Carolyn Norder of Woodland Park, CO and Carmen Hartman of Oquawka, IL. Delene is also survived by her special friends Theresa Dieckow and Milton Keever. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Helen Crandall and Georgia Van Winkle, and one brother, Paul Loper.

A funeral service for Delene Wilson is planned for 10:30 AM on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at the Oquawka Cemetery.
