The 2024 Warren County Prime Beef Festival Princess Court has been crowned. Lucy Parkins, a senior at Burlington Notre Dame, was crowned the 2024 Princess. Lucy is the daughter of Brian and Jenna Parkins and shares her monologue topic:
“My monologue was entitled ‘The Social Era,’ and it was just about how I have grown up without social media and how it has affected others compared to me. My mom has always had restrictions regarding electronics and social media and as I have matured, I have realized that I do not need it. So, I have been so grateful to see my world through my faith and how it has affected me compared to others around me that do have social media.”
Lucy plans to study cosmetology following high school. Jacey Hasten, a senior at United High School, was crowned the First Runner Up. Jacey, the daughter of Josh and Gena Hasten, shares her monologue called ‘Life as a Middle Child:’
“Growing up I have always been very close with my siblings and my parents. My brother recently got in a dirt bike accident this past June, breaking his femur, and I thought that would be a very important part of my speech. That was my main topic of it and how that had made my siblings and I closer and just how we were hands on caring for him.”
Jacey plans to attend a four-year university to study nursing. Makayla St. George, a senior at Monmouth-Roseville High School, is the Second Runner Up. Makayla is the daughter of Michael and Cathy St. George and shares her performed talent:
“My talent was a baton routine. About a month ago, I was in a car accident, so I wasn’t able to do my original routine, but I am very lucky that I was able to do a modified version that Chloe Russell helped choreograph.”
Makayla will be attending Carl Sandburg College before transferring to a university to study neuroscience and pediatric psychology. To round out the Prime Beef Festival Princess Court, Haley Frakes, a senior at Monmouth-Roseville High School and the daughter of Jeri Hughes and Dustin Frakes, was named Third Runner Up. The Personality Award went to Elycia Nache and Talent Award winner was Jacey Hasten.
