The Monmouth Fire Department has received a FEMA grant in the amount of $224,000 for a 27-foot-long fire safety trailer. Chief Casey Rexroat describes the trailer:

“You may have seen these before, we haven’t had one in the area for a little while, but they have a kitchen inside, a bedroom, and a lot of different props and things like that, that we can use to teach people about how to be safe in the home, how to practice their exit drills, specifically with the kids. This will have a fire extinguisher trainer with is so we can show people how to use a fire extinguisher without actually lighting a fire.”

Chief Rexroat says the trailer comes with foggers for smoke and a heated door for training purposes. Fire Prevention and Safety month is coming up in October and the Fire Department will be visiting our local schools to teach students about emergency planning.
