Just a little over a month into the new school year and it is already Homecoming time for the students in the United School District. A whole host of events will take place throughout the week, reports Superintendent Tom Hawkins:

“Our Homecoming is the week of September 23rd. We will be hosting Princeville for our Homecoming football game and a lot of activities that week. A bonfire on the 26th. We have the parade on the 27th, the game on the 27th, the parade is at the South campus, and we also have the Homecoming dance on that weekend. Our counselors are bringing in a motivational speaker, a former NFL player named Steve Grant, who played with the Indianapolis Colts. He speaks to encourage positive choices. He will be speaking to all of our students in the junior high and senior high. Then our students are selling Homecoming t-shirts for their Tackle Hunger campaign. All the proceeds from the t-shirts are going to provide weekend meals for students at United Junior High School.”

The theme for United’s Homecoming is Candyland.
