Week 4 of the high school season is upon. The United Red Storm will try to build off the momentum they gained last week in an overtime loss to one of the LincolnLand Small School Division preseason favorites, ROWVA/Williamsfield. Despite the loss to the Cougars, the Red Storm put up fantastic passing numbers in the 42-36 defeat. Nolan Jenks, back from an injury that sidelined him in week 2, threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns. 228 of those yards and three touchdowns went to Zeke Clark. Annawan/Wethersfield has started their season an uncharacteristic (1-2), already equaling their losses all of last season in a quarterfinal run of (10-2) in 2023. The Titans are coming off a 26-13 loss to Rushville/Industry in week 3, the same team that United lost 18-6 in week 2. First-year United head coach Andrew Goodwin said he’s confident the heart breaking loss to R/W will prove beneficial going forward.

Kickoff for United and Annawan/Wethersfield is scheduled for 7:00 at United High School. The AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM pregame show will start at 6:35, with the kickoff following at 7:00.

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan football squad was on the happier end of a late game decision in their week 3 game at home against Kewanee. The Titans trailed 21-17 early in the 4th quarter before a long, 85 yard touchdown drive that ended in this 4th and goal carry from the 3 yard line from Nick Huston.

The Titans would stop Kewanee on the ensuing possession and escape with a 24-21 victory. Monmouth-Roseville travels to (0-3) Mendota tonight for week 4 in what some folks call a “trap game”. After the long 2 hour road trip to Mendota this week, Monmouth-Roseville has a week 5 Homecoming date with, likewise, (3-0) Princeton that would go a long ways towards the TRAC Large School Division title. Titan head coach Jeremy Adolphson says he has made it very clear to his team this week in practice that despite Mendota being win-less so far this season, the Titans have to go into tonight with a no-nonsense attitude.

We’ll have this on Sunny 97.7 WMOI, with the pregame show at 6:35, kickoff is set set for 7:00.
