An option for replacing the Central Park Fountain in Downtown Monmouth with a Maple Leaf Sculpture has been brought forth to the Monmouth City Council for consideration, reports Communications Director Ken Helms:

“Over the last two Council meetings, Council has talked about the option to have a professional designer put in a centerpiece for the fountain, that would be a replacement of the fountain itself. What it is, is a maple leaf and some additional texting on it for Monmouth and the Maple City and the maple leaf would turn on a motor. Because of the big change on that, it has been a point of discussion and it was talked a little bit about how they will raise the funds for it, so no tax dollars would be used on that, no public funds.”

The request for a new Maple Leaf Sculpture placement was tabled by Council and is expected to be discussed further at a later date.
