Member of the Monmouth Police Department and a Monmouth native himself, AJ Cox has launched his campaign for Warren County Sheriff. AJ worked four years as a jailer with the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, six years as a Deputy, before transferring to the Monmouth Police Department, where he is currently part of the Investigations Department. As Sheriff, AJ states he will lead by example:

“I think as Sheriff, and it is not even just as Sheriff, being a Sergeant, a Lieutenant, a Captain, a person in charge, you have to go through and be a leader. I know that is very vague, but this is most definitely something that I learned when I went to college playing football. You had all different types of people that you had to go through and bring together. To me it is one of those things to where, me personally, I will not be in the back sitting there telling people what to do. I really try to, as they say, lead by example. I go through and keep trying to learn, trying to better myself, let people know in the community that I take my job very seriously, I am proud of my job; just to be a solid leader and be a role model for your community as a whole.”

AJ will appear on the 2026 ballot as a candidate for Warren County Sheriff.
