Celebrate the harvest season with us at the Western Illinois Museum during Downtown Macomb’s Moon Over Macomb festivities! On Saturday, October 26th, from 10:00 AM to Noon, drop in for a hands-on, guided workshop where guests can craft corn husk dolls while learning about historic culinary traditions.

Throughout the event, interactive stations will offer insights into traditional methods and customs surrounding food preparation, complete with recipes and delicious samples. This guided learning experience focuses on essential practices for preparing and preserving food for the winter months. From the creative use of harvested crops to live demonstrations, guests will discover time-honored techniques like making apple butter, fermenting vegetables, canning, and dehydrating fruits.

The Museum’s lively Victorian Ladies, Mrs. Bath and Mrs. Chu, will share their favorite harvest recipe for homemade apple butter, while Amber Davis of Sol Shine will demonstrate how to turn herbs into a fragrant cup of tea. Visit these experts and others for a seasonal treat that brings history to life!

This family-friendly event is free and open to the public, making it the perfect way to embrace the fall spirit with friends and family.
