Maquon Woman Formerly Charged in Homicide of Richard Young

Sheriff Jack Harlan would like to announce the arrest of Karen Doubet of Maquon for a Knox County Original Warrant on a 2022 case for the homicide of Richard Young. Knox County Investigations unit has worked diligently with Interim States Attorney Sherry Weaver and Assistant States Attorney Ashley Worby.

Doubet was formally charged with First Degree Murder, Attempt First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery Administering Dangerous Substance, Concealment of Homicidal Death, and Concealment of Death.

On 10/04/24 at approximately 11:00 a.m., Knox County Investigators took Doubet into custody at her residence in Maquon. Doubet was transported to the Knox County Jail where she will await a detention hearing.

Knox County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Interim States Attorney Weaver and Assistant States Attorney Worby for their commitment to seek justice for Richard Young.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
