Mary “Luan” Butler, age 88, of Springfield, Illinois, formerly of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at 2:25 AM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in her Lewis Memorial Christian Village apartment in Springfield. She was born November 5, 1935 in Macomb, Illinois, the daughter of Harvey and Helen Mirian (Krauser) Doll. Luan attended and graduated from Bushnell Prairie City High School and later attended Lincoln College where she attained her associate’s degree. On October 1, 1961, she married A. Howard Butler in Bushnell, Illinois and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2005.Luan was a homemaker and farmers wife. She enjoyed traveling and camping with Howard.  After Howard’s passing, she continued to enjoy traveling spending winter months in South Texas for many years.  She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Warren County Home Extension. Mostly, Luan loved spending time with her family.

Luan is survived by two daughters, Linda (Ernie) Butler-DeFrates of Springfield, Illinois and Beverly (Kurt) Tolliver of Monrovia, California. There are two grandchildren surviving, Annie and Allison Tolliver. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard, and one brother, Harvey Doll, Jr.

A funeral service for Luan Butler is planned for 11:00 AM Friday, November 1, 2024 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family plans visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service. Interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, Illinois.
